His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche
Danakosha Finland is happy to announce that His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche has accepted Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche's heartfelt request, and is coming to Finland in the course of his visit to Europe.

His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche and Dorje Drak

HH Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche is the highest knowledge holder in the Dorje Drak Monastery. Dorje Drak is one of the six great monasteries responsible for upholding the Nyingma tradition. As a special feature, Dorje Drak preserves a terma treasure from Guru Padmasambhava, found by Rigdzin Godem in 1366. Rigdzin Godem was the reincarnation of one of the closest students of Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava. From the hidden terma originated the so called Northern Teachings or the Jangter tradition. The third reincarnation of Rigdzin Godem found the Dorje Drak Monastery, from where the teachings spread to the whole of Tibet, as they recently have to other countries as well. The monastery-in-exile is currently located in the city of Shimla in the Indian Himalayas.

Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche was born in central Tibet in 1926. He was soon recognized as a reincarnation of the famous Ngok Choku Dorje. The earlier rebirths in this reincarnation line were renowned for their modesty and diligence in studies. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche begun his Dharma studies at the age of five in the Taklung Tse Monastery in his vicinity. At age eight he was invited to be the Dharma Seat Holder at Dorje Drak. Following this he studied and acquired the complete teachings of his tradition. After spending some time as a khenpo at Dorje Drak, he went on a pilgrimage to India in order to celebrate the 2500th anniversary of the Parinirvana of the Buddha, and further returned to his monastery for a while. He was soon forced to leave Tibet in exile. Nowadays, he is constantly requested to give extensive transmissions in significant Dharma centres in India, Nepal and Bhutan. His transmissions are sought everywhere by the Nyingma practitioners of the host country in question, as well as by other practitioners, since he is regarded as a distinguished Rimé lama whose holy qualities and scholarship transcend the boundaries between different schools. HH Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche is now visiting Europe for the first time as part of his enlightened activity, so as to fulfill the wishes presented by devoted students.

A Holy Being's Blessing to Our Minds

- It is a very rare occasion and a great blessing to have the opportunity to receive a sacred initiation from the mind of an enlightened lama, says Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche, who presented the wish that Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche could visit Finland in order to benefit the Finnish people and especially the practitioners.

- Even though there are certain significant and prominent lamas in the world, it is impossible these days to find someone better than HH Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. If you consider all the qualities a lama should have in order to represent his tradition perfectly, His Holiness possesses them all. His learning is without flaw, he is a great practitioner, immaculately kind and compassionate, and his actions are completely pure ethically.

- He is without a doubt a knowledge holder regarding the whole Nyingma tradition, and in addition he is also a Rimé lama, representing the type of Buddhism that transcends the boundaries of different schools, and he is capable of teaching in accordance with each school. If a Buddhist practitioner receives an initiation from him, it is comparable to receiving it from Padmasambhava himself. When a person enconters a lama of his kind, a connection will be born that will carry great blessings in the future.

- Receiving teachings and initiations from a lama of this kind can also be a great joy to the lama himself if the students are enthusiastic and positive, and this is a great benefit for the whole community of practitioners, says Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche.
